spring (and ipie) is in the air!

The calendar may say it's February but the trees here in San Francisco are starting to leaf out and the daffodils are starting to pop up everywhere.

That must mean we are in the home stretch -- almost springtime!

As a baker who prefers to use locally grown, organic fruit, February-April is an in between time -- berries aren't ready yet and California apples and pears are pretty much done for the season.

As I typically do during the winter months, I keep busy testing new pie fillings as well as other pie related offerings that might make an appearance in my online shop as well as at the Palo Alto Farmers' Market when it reopens in May.

Until then, there is still lots of pie to eat -- I did find a good source of beautiful organic apples from Washington State so available for order now are classic apple ipies.

So as always, eat more pie!

2012 ipie-lution!

Did you overindulge during the holidays? The resolution to give up sweets doesn't last long for most people so how about resolve to eat smaller sweets? Like, maybe, an ipie!

Now that's a resolution that is easy to keep. And it might help that part of the proceeds each year from ipie sales are donated to the Alzheimer's Association.

While winter time means fewer fruits to choose from for pie baking -- having beautiful pears available this time of year makes it a bit easier to wait for the bounty of summer.

Just ripened Bartlett pears drizzled with a bit of local orange blossom honey topped by a flaky honey brushed crust. No wonder the pear honey ipie quickly became my best selling ipie at the Palo Alto Farmers' Market!

Hosting a party, meeting or other special event? Even though the market is now closed until May, you can still get your ipies! In addition to the pear honey, I also have classic apple ipie available as well as pinwheel cookies.

Local ipie fans can order their ipies by sending me an email me to discuss while fans out of the area can order via paypal. All ordering information is to the right.

And don't forget, eat more pie!

See you next season!

Looks like I won't be at the Palo Alto Farmers' Market again before it closes on 12/17 so see everyone next spring!

I'll still be baking during the off season and am ready to bake ipies for any of your special events or just to satisfy an ipie craving emergency!

Feel free to email me to discuss any special orders.

I will also be organizing a few ipie pop up shops for San Francisco and will post details on my facebook page.

And I'll be testing new fillings during the months leading up to the market so feel free to email me any suggestions.

If you live out of the SF Bay Area, you can still order your ipies. Order and shipping information is to the right of this post.

Thanks everyone!

ipie at Palo Alto Farmers' Market this Saturday, October 29!

This photo is of the lovely and talented Devana from Waverly Kitchens.

Her market stand is across from the ipie stand at the Palo Alto Farmers' Market and features traditional Indian spices with a modern twist.

What's the modern twist? They take the guesswork out of how to cook with these fragrant spices. Each spice packet has two spice blends, step-by-step instructions and best of all -- a shopping list!

Buy your spice packet and use the shopping list to buy everything you need right from the farmers' market!

When you are done, buy an ipie for dessert! Sweet and savory -- what more do you want?

So come by our ipie stand at the Palo Alto Farmers' Market this Saturday, October 29, from 8-noon for classic apple ipies as well as apple caramel ipies.

Remember you can email us to reserve your ipies for pick up at the market.

Hope to see you Saturday!

ipie at Palo Alto Farmers' Market this Saturday, October 15!

After reading all the latest news about the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations, the business that didn't learn anything from the New Coke fiasco, and the seemingly endless details about the cast of characters running for President, I wanted to go out and commit random acts of pie.

So I did. I just moved to a new neighborhood so I spread the pie around to a few new neighbors and shopkeepers.

It felt good to do something so very basic -- talk to a fellow human and connect over something sweet.

Perhaps it can become a new movement.....

Hope to see everyone at the Palo Alto Farmers' Market this Saturday, October 15 from 8-noon for your own little bit of sweetness. We will have classic apple and apple caramel ipies again this week.

Remember you can always email us to reserve your ipies for pick up at the market!

ipie at Palo Alto Farmers' Mkt October 1!

Even though these early days of Fall have been hot ones, the date on the calendar means all those yummy ipie holidays are just around the corner!

It also means it is time for Apple Caramel ipies!

Apple Caramel ipies start out as a Classic Apple ipie but we add a drizzle of our caramel sauce to the apple filling.

We cook the caramel sauce until it has a smokey caramel flavor and an amber color. We also brush the caramel sauce on top of the ipie to give it a bit of sticky goodness on the outside as well.

So come see us at the Palo Alto Farmers' Market this Saturday, October 1, from 8-noon for both your classic apple and apple caramel ipies.

Remember, you can always email us to reserve your ipies for pickup at the market.

See you Saturday!
