ipie at Palo Alto Farmers' Market this Saturday!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Palo Alto Farmers' Market this Saturday, June 25 from 8-noon!

It isn't quite peach or nectarine season yet -- that is still a few weeks away but I came across a few organic nectarines that I just had to buy.

I tested several fillings using the nectarines and the nectarine/raspberry filling tasted amazing!

So I will have just a few razterines (!) ipies available at the market along with our mixed berry ipie filled with organic strawberries and blueberries. The berries are super sweet right now so hardly any sugar is needed in the filling!

So, come see us at the Palo Alto Farmers' Market this Saturday, June 25, from 8-noon for your own mixed berry and razterines ipies!

Remember you can email us to reserve your ipies for pick up at the market.

And don't forget we can now ship ipies outside the SF Bay Area -- see ordering information to the right on how to order.

Hope to see you at the market this Saturday!

ipie at Palo Alto Farmers' Market this Saturday!

This photo shows two kinds of cherries -- the dark ones are sweet cherries and the light red ones are called sour pie cherries.

This photo was taken in Chicago last summer because as I found out when I moved to California, local sour pie cherries are as rare as rubies out here!

So imagine my excitement when a worker at a local farmers' market ran up to me and excitedly told me they had just gotten a shipment of local sour cherries! He had remembered me from last season pestering him to let me know if he ever got any of these jewels in.

The bad news was that these are priced almost like rubies but I just had to buy a few pounds. So, I will have a very limited supply of cherry ipies at the market this week.

We will also have the mixed berry filling of organic strawberries and blueberries.

So, come see us at the Palo Alto Farmers' Market this Saturday, June 11, from 8-noon for your own mixed berry and cherry ipies!

Remember you can email us to reserve your ipies for pick up at the market.

Hope to see you at the market this Saturday!

iship ipie!: ipie now available outside SF Bay Area!

ipie for all!

I'm happy to announce that I can now ship ipies to your friends and family members that live outside the SF Bay Area!

It was a lot of fun sending ipie packages across the U.S. to my volunteer testers to see how good a traveler my little pies were!

Less fun to figure out but important to me was that the pies be packaged in environmentally friendly packaging.

The testing is done and the packaging is here and they are ready for you to send them on their journey!

How to order information is to the right!

ipie at Palo Alto Farmers' Market this Saturday!

This is Alex, or as we called him, Mr. Mixed Berry! That was the ipie filling at our last farmers' market -- strawberry and blueberry -- and Alex looked like he was a walking advertisement for our ipie!

So, come see us at the Palo Alto Farmers' Market this Saturday, May 28, from 8-noon for your own mixed berry ipie!

Unfortunately we were sold out of ipie when Mr. Mixed Berry stopped by so remember you can always email us to reserve your ipie for pickup at the market.

We are (of course) saving one for Mr. Mixed Berry!

Hope to see you all at the market!

ipie and the Online Bake Sale for Japan!: UPDATE

***update! we made more than $8,000! Thank you everyone! And high bid on ipies was $110! Thank you thank you! Pie people are very special people!***

In Indiana where I grew up , baking was often the language we used to communicate with each other.

Owe someone an apology? Bake them brownies. Someone you know not feeling so well -- a nice pudding would make them feel better. New job? Baby announcement? Almost any occasion called for hauling out the mixing bowls and butter.

And now, if only I could bake ipies for the people of Japan to feed their hunger and their souls I would do it.

I can't of course but perhaps indirectly I can make it happen.

Well, you can.

ipie is teaming up with a growing list of food bloggers to raise money for Japan via an online bake sale.

The auction is the brain child of Sabrina Modelle who writes the tomato tart blog.

The bake sale will be held, auction style, on her website on March 30th. We will be donating to Second Harvest Japan, a food bank in Japan.

Sabrina has a list of participating food bloggers on her site. Although the auction doesn't start until March 30 -- Sabrina will be previewing what will be available.

So, please check out her site and on March 30, please bid on ipies or some other yummy goodie.

Here is more information about ipie and what I will be offering for the auction:

ipie will offer six ipies with either a classic apple filling or a pear honey filling.

An ipie is an individual fruit filled double crust pie about the size of a cupcake. I sell my ipies at the Palo Alto Farmers' Market and by special order.

I can't ship out of my local area but I would be happy to deliver them to you if you live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Please email me if you have any questions -- an email link follows the ipie photo.

National Pie (ipie!) Day!

I so miss being at the Palo Alto Farmers' Market so I was happy to get back into the kitchen to bake ipies in honor of National Pie Day this past Sunday, January 23.

I baked 24 ipies and packed them into my mini cooper for delivery.

It was a sunny, warm day and it was a lot of fun to commit random acts of ipie!

I tried to choose pie lovers that had not yet tasted an ipie but there were a few people that I felt needed a bit of a smile so they got an ipie as well!

Remember, pie is optimistic so eat more pie!
